Who is Take Art?

Take Art is a Somerset-based arts charity bringing theatre, dance, music and early years performances to rural communities across the county. Over almost 35 years they've staged 3,200 shows in 260 villages, working with over 3,250 artists to reach more than 200,000 audience members. Their old website ran on a custom CSS platform with close to 100 pages.

Challenge & solution.

CHALLENGES

  • Close to 100 pages built on an outdated, custom CSS platform

  • Huge breadth of content to migrate — specialisms, projects, news, artists, events

  • Needed a CMS structure that could scale with ongoing programming, not just hold static pages

  • Modern look and feel required without losing the organisation's identity

WHAT WE DID

  • Full migration from the old platform to Webflow, rebuilding close to 100 pages from the ground up

  • Extensive custom coding to support bespoke interactions and layouts beyond Webflow's defaults

  • A comprehensive CMS structure built around events, news, projects and specialisms, designed to scale as Take Art's programme grows

  • Modernised design that kept the spirit of the existing brand while bringing the site up to date

  • On-page SEO implemented across the full site to support long-term visibility

Our process.

  1. Discovery & strategy

With close to 100 pages and years of content to account for, the first stage was understanding everything that needed to move across and how it should be restructured for the new platform.

  1. Design & Build

The site was rebuilt in Webflow with a modernised take on the existing brand, supported by custom coding throughout to achieve the design without compromise.

  1. CMS & content migration

A large-scale CMS structure was built to handle events, news, projects and artist information, with content migrated across page by page to preserve everything that mattered.

  1. SEO & launch

On-page SEO was applied across the rebuilt site before launch, then the new Take Art went live — built to grow with the organisation rather than need replacing again in a few years.

We worked with Insignal Media to move our website from a platform based on custom CSS to Webflow. This required recreating the whole site on the new platform, not an easy feat considering we had close to 100 pages! After a quick initial meeting we were happy to go ahead; Harry offered very competitive prices, he seemed experienced, friendly and was also local to us.

Harry was really easy to work with, he kept us updated throughout the process, advised us on best practises and considered all our requests making sure the end result was exactly how we wanted it. We are very pleased with our new site and feel reassured that should we need anything, Harry is just an email away.

If you're considering having your website built — in WordPress, Wix, Webflow or any other platform — we highly recommend Harry and Insignal Media.
